The One About Wind Roses in Vasari
OK, so this one drops nicely into the simulation category, but is really more about gathering site data than simulating an event. The only problem (well, i suppose i could be critical and come up with lots of problems…) with the tutorial video is that the wind rose window doesn’t actually show the wind rose. Not sure why…though i am sure it has something to do with the video card in my laptop. So, you will have to follow along, but in doing so, you will see the wind rose elements coming together in a way that we need them to in architecture. I generic wind rose for a site location that covers average wind for the year is about as useful as a porcupine in a balloon factory. What Vasari provides is time specific, date specific data that designers really need.
