Augmented Reality and the Geotag

I have been using ARmedia for augmented reality for a while now…love it. Great render engine, nice feature set, compatibility with Revit through 3dsMax, and tons of tools for doing some really exciting things in Max and pushing the options to AR (augmented reality). As promised, ARmedia now has Geo-Tagging in their toolset.


SketchUp to Unity – Sites! (from 8.07.12):

Unity is AMAZING. If you don’t love it, you haven’t used it! The implications for where this can take architectural representation is absolutely brilliant, and really, i am only beginning to wrap my head around some of the potential (AI design guide for community participation in master planning!). While the site tools in Unity unlock your imagination as an artist, they don’t really help create a site based off of a specific location with given parameters. So, mashups ensue. This first tutorial will cover grabbing topo data in SketchUp, pushing it to Unity, and getting things ready for the import of a building.

The next version of Unity will be out soon…more to come on this one!


This page will hold transferring BIM models into realtime animation packages like Showcase, Unity, Unreal 3 (hopefully Unreal 4 soon, because holy cow it is amazing!), and Augmented Reality.
